What is this Funk.
Last Saturday after having a busy day in suburbia we headed out to two parties a swiss party and a super funk party.
The Swiss party is basically a group of guys who all came to Canada to study. One of the guys is doing research in my research group (and I’m traveling to Europe with him in early November). Anyway, these guys all live in a house together and every September/October have a “Swiss Embassy” party. The party basically involves swiss fondue, swiss pizza and a hot tub. All the makings of a good party. This year a couple of new swiss guys came to study and one of the guys brought a bit of swiss cheese with him. By “a bit” I mean 18 Kilograms of swiss cheese. Yes, that works out to almost 40 pounds of cheese! Can you imagine packing 40 pounds of cheese with you when you move to Canada? Mike and Mel did you guys bring 40 Litres of Maple Syrup when moving to Lybia?
Anyway, while we leaving we told our Swiss friend that we had to go to a Super Funk Party. Which he responded,
“What is this ‘funk‘?”
I just thought that was so classic. “What is this ‘funk‘?”
Anyway, the funk party was pretty fun and how could it not be with a basement with carpet and wood paneling on the walls? Also, if you read this, know Mayson and didn’t come to his Super Funk Party, chances are that he hates you.

Scammed by a 10 year old
So yesterday we went to Safeway to get groceries. As we were leaving a little guy somewhere around 9-12 years old came up to Lindsay selling chocolate bars for a fundraiser. The little guy was at that age where he could still be considered ‘cute’ but is probably the same punk that has broken our bus shelter in our neighborhood 3 times in the past year. Seriously, three times!
Anyway, he was selling chocolate bars for Kids in Need or something like that (seemed like a good cause and not the point of the story). I wasn’t really there as I got stuck behind the person that just stops randomly in the middle of a walkway and can’t let you pass. So I only showed up for the chocolate speal.
Lindsay: Well, how much are they? (as if she wasn’t going to buy them. It’s chocolate!)
Kid: The pure chocolate one is $3, the almond and chocolate is $3 or the chocolate covered almonds are $4. OR you can have all three delicious chocolate bars for $10.
Jeff: Are they seriously, delicious?
Kid: Yes.
Lindsay/Jeff: Sold.
Maybe typing this out doesn’t really do it justice but when a 10 year old kid is trying to sell you chocolate and he says, “all three delicious chocolate bars” then you’ve basically bought the chocolate bars.
In other news…. Check out the picture.
Heath came through for us. What a guy, What a guy!

Who needs Starbucks?
Check out what was brewed straight from the Sill Espresso Machine; Two delicious cappuccino’s! Did you know that cappuccino’s are suppose to be half coffee and half milk with a bit of froth? And the froth is suppose to ‘insulate’ the coffee to keep it warmer. But all I know is that these cappuccino’s were tasty. It would be sweet to get a book like this one…I Love Coffee! : Over 100 Easy and Delicious Coffee Drinks
So you’re probably wondering why I have a coffee picture on my blog. Well, it’s a ‘friendly’ reminder to Heath that he needs to get us some coffee. You see he gets a free pound of coffee each week working at Starbucks. (I’ve often considered working at Starbucks just for the coffee.) Anyway, the plan was to email him everyday till he remembered, however, that sounds like a lot of work AND I keep on forgetting. So this seemed like the best alternative.
Yes, I realize that this whole post is about coffee so why not end it with a link (because Bob loves links) to a great webpage. CoffeeGeek.com everything and anything you would ever want to know about coffee. Isn’t the internet great?
