Meet Willow

So, in case you haven’t heard yet, the answer is b…we came back with a little kitten from BC. She’s a little grey tabby and we think she’s about 6 or 7 weeks old. We don’t really know her age because my stepdad found her in a park in a willow tree (thus the name) in BC a week ago at 5am when he was out walking the dogs. He quickly rescued her as with all of the wildlife in the area, she probably wouldn’t have remained in the tree for much longer. She was in BC for 5 days when we arrived for a visit. Jeff is allergic to cats, which is why we haven’t gotten one until now. However, this kitty cat is so adorable and fun that he couldn’t resist. My mom offered me the kitten early in the visit, but I left it up to Jeff to decide as I didn’t really want him to suffer through allergies just so I could have a cat. He ended up caving after the weekend with her. Thanks so much to mom and Doug for giving us to her. It’s so great waking up to a kitty and coming home to her. I know they were super sad to lose her (my mom cried when we left, but normally the tears are for me…not this time!). We love having her, so thanks a ton! Some days I’m sure you’d be thankful as she’s a lot of work.

We just had her running around the backyard with us while gardening. She got really muddy so we gave her a bath. That did not go over well.

She loves sleeping on Jeff:

Well it’s a good thing she wasn’t found in a Balsam Fir Tree or her latin name would have to be Abies Grandis, or if she was in a Douglas Fir Tree her name would be Pseudotsuga Menziesii, or a Lodge Pole Pine tree she would be Pinus Contorta.
How about a Birch Tree she would be Betula Papyrifera… that may work?
By the way, Mom did not want her name attached to this message.
Love……. Dad Sill

I did not see that one coming. I actually thought “well, there’s no way they got a kitten, so it must be one of the other choices.” How on earth does someone allergic to cats live with a cat? Willow is very cute though. Oh, and point of interest – by your dad’s logic, she should be called Salix sp. (pronounced Say’-lix spuh). Willow species are really tough to differentiate.

Sill – you are a sucker. I’m still milking the allergy thing, and plan to continue to milk said allergy thing until death do us part. I hope they never find a cure for cat allergies so I don’t have to find another reason to not get a cat.

Congratulations! I must say that as an allergy sufferer I am truly shocked! Of course, cats affect my breathing abilities….
Won’t be able to sleep over, sorry guys.

yes. I caved.

So, we spent 2 nights at Lindsay’s mom’s house who had three cats (at the time) and I wasn’t allergic at all! Car ride home for 8 hours. no problem. Going to bed with the kitty whipping around creating a dander storm a bit of sneezing.

Anyway, the only reason I caved is because she’s so cute! And has a great attitude. Wherever we go she wants to go. And I finally understand the saying Curiosity killed the cat. Hopefully it doesn’t but Willow sure is a curious cat!
